STRAW BALE HERITAGE PRESERVATION

Through The Straw Bale Association of Nebraska (SBAN), an effort is being made to restore, maintain and preserve the historic bale buildings of Nebraska. The Burke House These buildings were the inspiration for the current revival of straw-bale construction worldwide, and represent the significant role that pioneers in Nebraska Sandhills and in other parts of the state played in adapting bale construction for structures of all types.

Nine historic structures have been identified to date, and we are constantly Martin Monhart House searching for additional buildings which may still be in existence. If you have information, please contact SBAN so we can follow-up and add these buildings to our list.

The Nebraska State Historical Society is currently attempting to secure legislative action and funding for historic preservation in Nebraska. We hope this petition will assist Fawn Lake Ranch Bunkhouse them in this effort, and will aid in securing support and funding for SBAN's efforts on behalf of the historic bale buildings in Nebraska.
